ESPN+ Broadcasting

Since January 2019, I've worked as a broadcasting intern for ESPN+, playing a role in the production of high quality live broadcasts of Eastern Illinois University home athletic events.

On the broadcast crew, I frequently work in the control room as the replay specialist. Using a NewTek 3Play system, I show replays of fouls and big plays throughout the game, choosing the angles and using slow-motion to enhance the viewer experience. I additionally create short highlight reels for us to use during halftime, before or after commercial breaks, and for a final rollout before we end the broadcast. I also create longer playlists which are then used to make highlight reels for the EIU PantherAthletics Youtube channel.

Highlight reels from a few of the games I've worked on appear below!

I also frequently work in the film booth during broadcasts. I occasionally operate the main game camera, but I primarily operate the "hero" camera. In this role, I am responsible for capturing close-up visuals throughout the game.
  • I worked as a cameraman during a January 2019 game where Murray State's Ja Morant put up 27 points and an amazing dunk. Due to Morant's performance, the game (and several of my shots) appeared on ESPN's prime-time programming of Sportscenter with Scott Van Pelt.
